in Bangkok,trip

The other day I went to Bangkok for a short holiday. Ok aku tak taula short ke apa tapi dalam lima malamla kot.

Nak update tapi sebab takde internet masa tu, I had tu put it on hold sekejap. Ni ha mood dia dah suam-suam kuku tapi aku ni gatal jugak nak tulis hehehe.

It was my first trip to Bangkok after 8 ke 9 years.

I used to love Bangkok, the shopping, the people, the food.

The shopping and the food masih sama cuma the people adalah tidak sama. They are not as friendly and nice as before. Which is sad, sebab macam dah sama dengan Kuala Lumpur.

Will write in details when I have the time for now I have to mandi and go to One Utama.

Tapi tiba-tiba teringat benda ni

Nakkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

Dinner at Mouhot’s Dream – Day 3

by chics on Thursday, 30 June 2011 - 1 am · 6 comments

in crap,Siem Reap,trip

This will be the last entry about Siem Reap, sorry it took so long, was juggling between baking and being sick.

Right after the spa session, we headed to a french fusion restaurant in the same hotel, Sofitel Angkor for dinner. This restaurant was my sister in law’s favourite that she ate here almost every night while she was staying at the hotel [as told by one of the waiters here].

It is called Mouhot’s Dream

The restaurant

When we arrived at the restaurant, we were warmly greet by the waiter who seated us at the waiting area sambil mahu membuka sebotol wine. Well, he actually popped one bottle but we told him we were not drinking.

The dinner was also a surprise, I know we are going to have dinner but I didn’t know it was a candle light dinner.

Dinner for two :)

Complete with candles, roses and  different of glasses and cutleries.

And the restaurant being located to a beautiful lake yang penuh dengan lotus adalah turut to contribute kepada mood petang itu.

So beautiful!

It was perfect 1

To be honest, I have never dine in such a way, candle light and such and that moment perasaan adalah sangat overwhelming and dalam hati ada taman teratai.

Rasa macam dalam drama tv pun ada jugak except it didn’t feel tacky. Chewah.

When we were seated, we ordered our drinks while the waiter explained that the dinner that night will be 3 course meal – entree, main dish and dessert; all pre-picked by my sister in law.

The moment we finished ordering, the chef of the restaurant, Adam [if I am not mistaken] came to our table and explained us about the food that we were about to have followed by small talk.

I told bedmate, now I know that the sister in law is such a romantic person for arranging this dinner for us but then he said, she arranged it but I make it happen.

Ah, you pencair hati yewww.

But.

Bila aku pandang ke atas meja, aku berasa panic seperti Julia Roberts dalam Pretty Women sebab acik mana reti nak guna cutleries bermacam-macam ni ok. Ni siap ada fork besar, fork sederhana, fork kecik, forsk serampang 3. Apakah?

Ahhhhhh sudahhh. Camana niiiiiiiiiiii?

Tersenyum dalam kegelupuran

Well, if you know us, you will know that we are not the type yang akan control macho dan cun bila makan dan lain-lain hal, so we just eat as the way we like.

Asalkan masuk mulut.

The dishes came with its own cover macam dalam cafe world [sempat lagi tu]

Duck pate

This was not the entree but we had a plate each, a complimentary from the restaurant.

Usually I will hate liver to the core but this one was extremely delicious, especially when eaten with toasted bread.

His entree - Baby lobster

I tried some, they were juicy and tender but mine was to die for.

Something salmon, sort-of-carpaccio

This was divine.

Although it looked like some orange lempeng dengan papadom but really, this is the definition of melt in your mouth salmon. With the combination of caviar, entree ini sangatlah orgasma berganda.

His main dish

This was also good.

Mine

Not bad, lembut dan lemak.

We took turns to taste each other food, the portion is not so big , just nice to tastela kata orang. But it was full of flavour.

And then came the dessert.

Some chocolate cake with sorbet

Honestly, I can’t even take a look at cakes anymore these days but the sorbet was nice. Swirly seemed to like them.

Mine was something that I like, creme brulee with 3 flavours.

From left- original, green tea and jasmine tea flavour

The creme brulee also came with mango sorbet yang setap. I also love to nibble on the caramel sort-of-biscuits that came along with the dessert.

Oh, my favourite flavour was the green tea. Not too overpowering.

Overall, it was an enjoyable dinner and lain dari apa yang we used to do.

It was nice to do something different yet intimate like this once in a while. More than nice, actually. Cuma kalau hari-hari sangap jugak kot, nak nasik ok. Nasikkkkkkkkk dengan kuah masak lemak extra, sambal belacan jangan lupa.

After swirly had his coffee with some meringue, we made our way back to our hotel, with a stalk of rose in my hand, given by one of the staff as we walked out from the restaurant.

And that's my neck rest, comel tak?

It was a perfect ending for a perfect trip.

Ok, bukan ending sebenarnya sebab lepas tu swirly makan mee pulak dekat pub street. Perut buaya kan dia ni? Dah kenyang macam nak mati pun nakkkk jugak makan lagi tu.

Tapi nasib baik chenta.

  1. except for my semi-dry hair

Siem Reap – Blue Pumpkin Cafe

by chics on Friday, 24 June 2011 - 1 pm · 6 comments

in Siem Reap,trip

Masa nak pergi hari tu Leen Bakar ada recommend a place called Blue Pumpkin, katanya ice cream situ setap. And then my sister in law also recommended that place. She told me dekat situla first time dia makan macarons , dia suka and sebab tu suruh aku ajar.

We only had the chance to go to Blue Pumpkin on our third day. Since we have no plan for lunch we decided to stop by and tengok apa ada. Kalau takde apa yang boleh dimakan, might just buy the ice cream.

I noticed they are two Blue Pumpkin cafe, satu dekat dengan Night Market and satu dekat Pub Street [dekat dengan old market]. Yang dekat night market tu kecik je, tapi dekat pub street siap 2 tingkat.

In case you are wondering, pub street is like Bukit Bintang except lagi murah. You could get beer for USD0.5 to USD1 and other food pun takdela semahal Bukit Bintang.

So we went to the one yang dekat Pub Street.

Sebenarnya aku tak tahu pun dia 2 tingkat until after we ordered our food the cashier told us, boleh duduk dekat atas, tempat yang ada air cond.

Level bawah more to kedai pastries, ada bermacam jenis pastries, sandwiches and desserts. Macarons pon ada gemuk and cost only about RM3 , which is cheap for the size tapi aku nak tengok pun dah tak lalu, inikan pulak nak makan.

Dekat bawah juga ada ice cream parlour.

Disebabkan panas membahang dekat bawah we went up and bila sampai di atas, I instantly love the place.

White, spacious and relaxing

Dekat dinding, ada deretan sofa or day bed for you to lounge while eating or surfing. They will provide you with portable tables.

Masa kitorang datang, tempat tu dah penuh, so we seat dekat meja and kerusi yang biasa.

People berrelax-relax di atas sofa

Pub street memang penuh dengan foreigners jadi tempat ini pun sama. Macam-macam jenis orang adala, tapi banyak juga yang datang untuk online, maybe sebab dekat sini wifi free.

Other angle

Duduk-duuk je dia bagi menu and bagi cold towels. Swirly cakap the cold towels siapletak minyak cap kapak. Haha. Aku tak perasanla pulak sebab panas gila masa tu so I just use the towel untuk hilangkan panas.

I ordered pumpkin soup with baby lobster and swirly ordered deep fry tonle sap fish [something like that]

His fishI tried the fish, not bad, crispy and taste so fish. He seemed to enjoy his meal.

And he ordered mexican coffee kot, ada cinnamon taste dia kata, different but he liked it as well.

Mine

The soup was sooo creamy ditambah pulak dengan big chunks of baby lobster. I loved it.

I ordered passion fruit shake which was superb. Tak tahu kenapa, when we were in Siem Reap I went crazy over passion fruit, semua nak passion fruit. Sedap gila kot? Tapi bila balik sini tak sedap pulak hehe.

Masa menunggu for our food to arrived, I noticed they used the pulley system. Food from below will be sent in a tray or something and will be pulled upstairs, sama dengan pinggan-pinggan yang kotor.

I think it’s kind of cool.

Memang sedapla soup aku tu kan tapi tak habis sebab muak tapi tamak jugak nak order ice cream tu. We thought we wanted to order sundae type of ice cream, yang ada dalam menu but most of them ada liquerla pulak so takpelah, kitorang order yang dalam cone or cup.

The choices are quite extensive and they have sorbet as well.

I went for dark chocolate ice cream in a cone and swirly bought jackfruit dengan vanilla kot in a cup.

Menjilat bibir

Sambil jalan-jalan sambil menjilat ice cram di tengah panas. Bliss!

So if you want some thing to relax but with a good meal, go to Blue Pumpkin.

Just ask the tuktuk to drive to Pub Street and you will surely see the kedai or lagi senang suruh je tuktuk hantar pergi Blue Pumpkin, surely they will know.

If I come back to Siem Reap, this is one of the place that I will visit again.

But next time, I shall try their sorbet.
