Anniversary Dinner – La Risata

Although our anniversary was over few weeks ago, I feel like celebrating it over a dinner.

It was planned last minute and I was asked by Swirly to choose the venue. Because I don’t know where else to go, I decided to try La Risata, the Medan Damanasara.

We always love Italian food, so why notlah, I think.

The shop was located behind Victoria Station, Medan Damansara. It was not difficult to spot but parking might be a hassle. Luckily we arrived early so there were plenty.

Ready to melantak

The ambiance was quite nice but from what I saw on the Internet, the ampang branch is nicer. We chose to seat outside  - smoking section.

After placing our orders, we were served with bread and olive [and something else] dip.

Bread and dip

It was ok, the dip was something different than the usual balsamic vinegar.

Because we are tamak people yang berperut buncit, we ordered 2 appertisers

Gnocchi

I have to apologise, I don’t remember their real names and I am too lazy to google them so I will just write as what I remember okies?

The above is potato gnocchi with shrimps. Macam potato dumpling. It was not too bad but not great either.

Chicken pate

Chicken pate or chicken liver with toast bread.

I was salivating over this when Swirly ordered them because I was reminded how delicious was the pate back in Sofitel Angkor. But this one was ordinary.

Then come the main course.

Seafood sour soup

Swirly ordered the seafood sour soup [or something like that]. Mind you, this is the half portion and it was big!

The soup was not bad tapi yang best it was full of clams, squids and other hidupan laut. Tidak kedekut.

My bedmate enjoyed his meal :)

Salmon Ravioli

I LOVE ravioli!

And this one is salmon ravioli with salmon sauce. It was not the best but I love it nonetheless.

The thing is with ravioli, adalah cepat kenyang walaupun there are only small stuffed pockets.

I was actually full but still so gatal to order dessert.

Bread pudding and caramel

This one was ok-ok only. I was expecting something more spectacular. I mean, how can it goes wrong with bread pudding right?

Verdict?

kenyang face

“]

Another kenyang face [swirled version :P

Kenyang!

All in all it was a good night, although the food was so-so only.

We still prefer Ciao and Italian Kitchen.

Let’s try another place next year!

P/S. I know I twitted the unswirled version of Swirly but it feels weird not having his face swirled :P

Aizat at MPO

in outing,teteks

Few days ago, Shelly twitted that she wanted to go to watch Aizat at MPO. Sebagai seorang bimbo aku pun tanyalah MPO tu apa dan matii kene gelakkan Shelly.

Ampunkanlah kawan kau ni.

Incase yang sama bongok macam aku, MPO = Malaysia Philharmonic Orchestra.

And then dia ajak aku and Zasya who was also on the conversation pergi. To be honest, I have no preference for Aizat, suka pun tidak, tak suka pun tidak. I don’t mind him though sebab vocal dia memang sangat mantap.

So I thought, ah what the hell, pergi jelah. Dah lama gila aku tak jumpa Shelly [she was my first friend back in stf :*] and aku pun bukannya buat apa.

Tetiba Tinah nak join, which is even better. The more the merrier.

And then I remembered Anne from groovylicious.org, dia manager Aizat so I asked her how can I get the ticket. Luckilyla aku kenal dia sebab tiket semua adalah sold out.

Aku dengan Shelly sampai dulu, melepak dekat Dome and then baru Tinah dengan Zasya datang. Berkak nam dan bercerita tentang hal masin-masing, sedar-sedar it was already time to go.

Memvain sebelum masuk

Now, initially Anne cakap seat adalah upper circle, which is quite jauh but tak kesahla, last minute dah pun but she was such a darling, she managed to get us seats yang sangat dekat dengan stage.

Zasya tukang ambik gambar

Banyak lagu dia yang aku tak tahu but that can’t deny that he’s such a good and talented singer.  Vocal dia best gila ok ditambah pulak buat dekat Philharmonic kan, lagilah, bunyi adalah sangat best.

And his interaction with the audience was not bad at all.

Sempat jugakla aku meraung seround dua masa cocert tu sebab lagu dia menusuk hati.

Apa ke bangangla, orang pergi tengok concert happy, bersorak bagai aku menangis. Hahahahaha

Tapiiiiiiiiiiiii, ada eye candy yang lain selain aizat. Ada this one guy yang main violin. Muka ada iras anuar zain lepas tu pakai kemeja lipat lengan sampai siku.

Aku ingat aku sorang je perasan yang dia cute, rupa-rupanya Tina and Shelly pon sama. Haha, siap ada yang ambik gambar dia lagi upload dekat facebook :P

Seksi sungguh bermain violin sebegitu.

Anyway, lepas tu pergi NZ lepak-lepak sambung berkak nam. Hantar Tinah balik, and aku sambung lepak sampai pukul 3

Pagi ni aku bangun lambat dan berasa ting tong.

But I had a great night, thank you girls! :*

Dinner at Kokopelli

by chics on Tuesday, 14 December 2010 - 1 am · 12 comments

I was out for tea with Saiful last week at d’Cengkih 1 when he mentioned about Kokopelli. I went..what is Kokopelli?

You mean, you don’t know Kokopelli?

He asked me in disbelieved. Tak percaya sebab aku suka makan dan mostly tempat makan yang dia tahu aku mesti tau. Both of us memang love to eat. Dari sloppy joe tepi jalan sampailah ke kedai yang kena bersopan santun semua kitorang makan.

Tea at d’ cengkih was fine, I assumed it as my early dinner since I am on counting-calorie-diet. Tapiiiiii diet adalah gagal went he drove both us to Kokopelli, which is located opposite Jaya 32 Square [Sec 14, PJ].

Kokopelli, Travellers Bistro

In case, you are wondering [just like me] about the word Kokopelli,

Click for credit
Kokopelli is a fertility deity, usually depicted as a humpbacked flute player (often with a huge phallus and feathers or antenna-like protrusions on his head), who has been venerated by some Native American cultures in the Southwestern United States. Like most fertility deities, Kokopelli presides over both childbirth and agriculture. He is also a trickster god and represents the spirit of music – Wikipedia.

The bistro, is set up in a bungalow owned by husband and wife, Ariff and Soraya [One of Malaysia’s finest portrait photographers]. Both can be spotted serving and clearing tables that night, unlike some restaurant owner who main tunjuk-tunjuk only when it comes to their resturant.

This is chics hihi

Despite wanting to be on diet. I ordered ice chocolate. Itu jela air aku, kalau diet air suam, kalau tak diet ice chocolate hehe.

Nyummy!

Although it was not as soothing as Starbuck’s Ice Choc but I have to say this is one of the best Ico choc that I’ve tasted in cafes and bistros. Siap dengan whipped cream tak tahannn. Slurpp slurppp.

Since we are still full [tapi tamakkkk dan halobaa juga nak makann], we decided to oder appertisers only. I chose baked potato skin and Saiful chose calamari and prawns [2 dishes tu, lagi tamak dari aku haha].

The food

Let’s go one by one. Aku memang suka torture orang dan diri sendiri. Lepas ni komfem aku pegi masak indomie hehe.

Baked potato skin

I love loveee this one. Tak semata-mata potato skin sahaja tapi ada isi sikit and it was softtt .The cheese melted in my mouth and it went well with the sour cream [yang dalam sudu tepi tu].

Calamari with curry mayo

They mix some spices for the calamari’s batter and the dip adalah ada kari. Now, I don’t like kari tapi yang ni bolehla makan. Although we wish that the dip would be mayo and horseradish instead.

Prawns

Can’t really remember prawns ni masak apa but the gravy tasted masam manis, macam ada tamarind. Nevertheless, the prawns tasted fresh and not overcooked. Just nice.

Saiful said, next time he would order Aglio Olio which is the crucial factor to determine sedap ke tak pasta di sesebuah tempat. I agree, kalau kedai tu aglio olio dia setap, nescaya yang lain akan sedap [big possibilityla].

Lepas dah kenyang, barulah boleh berjalan-jalan inside.

The counter

Sukala counter dia, adalah colourful dan cute.

Opposite the counter

This bistro also serves as art gallery. Tak silap, Ariff is a painter. Kalau tak silapla.

Cat's tail hanging

Sangatlah comel dan geram tengok ekor kucing tu tergantung. Lepas tu ada Gusto from Ratatouille tapi aku malas nak letak gambar, boleh?

Oh ada lagi satu kucing, tapi kucing kene pijak dengan tikus.

The cat is being bullied.

Inside the bistro

Other interior of the bistro

It looks cozy, kalau buat birthday ke apa mungkin best kot.

The bistro also was filled with graffiti to give some identity to it.

Tables with graffiti

The jalan also dilukis

If you are the type yang suka benda-benda artsy, you might like this place. Nice ambiance as well untuk lepak dengan kawan-kawan.

All in all, I had a great night [thanks Saiful!]  and went home happy :)

  1. Kenapa restoran melayu suka sangat letak d’ tu?
