in books

I am currently reading 2 books.

Sense & sensibility by Jane Austen and Monstrous Regimen by Terry Pratchett.

I picked out something from Jane Austen because I wanted to read something related to good literature tapi end up baru berapa muka surat aku macam nak tertido. It’s  like apa pasal kau kene tulis ayat tu berbelit macam tu, tulis straight foward je tak boleh ke?

Sense & Sensibility

But, I am still determine to finish that book and after I do, I will buy more similar books. Sebab sometimes aku realise although I read tapi macam bangang je. Cerita pon abalik-balik macam gitu and certain book grammar dia pun gagal. Adalah sungguh tak elok untuk budak bodoh grammar macam aku.

Next maybe I want to buy Mansfield Park pulak.

And the second book, ahh sangat entertaining. I knew Terry Practchett from his discworld series.I have never read them properly hanya flip through je but I can tell his style of writing is so witty.

Monstrous Regiment

Initially when I read this, I sort of predict what happened tapi bila sampai tengah rasa nak tergelak satu sebab kelakar, dua sebab oh dugaanku salah belaka hehe . But I really love satu phrase in this book.

“A woman always has half an onion left over, no matter what size of the onion, the dish or the woman”

Haha.

Aku gelak sebab habit aku bila masak macam nila. kalau ada kene guna onion, mestiiiiiiiiiiii aku akan tinggalkan half. Haha bongokla dia ni, macam tau-tau je tau.

Even dalam Alzheimer speech dia pun, masih sempat nak buat klakar lagi [yes, he had Alzheiemer, sedih kan? :( ].

Have yet to finish the book sebab tetibe balik Malaysia [macam sial tak statement cas duduk oversea ni? Padahallllllll Hahahaaaa].

Tapi tak usah risau [ceh siapa yang risau sekarang?] I will try to finish the book soon.

Okies, time to set the time trap at Bloodpack [will blog about this later ].

You bunnies take care.

Muah muah.

The Big Bad Book sale

in books,outing

I went to check out the Big Bad Book Sale on thursday. I had an appointment at Amcorp so might as well lah. Although actually it was terbalik, I decided to go for the appointment sebab terlanjur nak pergi the book sale heheeeee.

Arrived there during lunch time, traffic to Amcorp was pretty bad but managed to find parking bawah lubang hidung – bebetul depan entrance parking hihih.

Since I got like half and hour before my appoinment, I headed to the book sale and oh my God orang sangatlah ramaiii. Susah gila nak jalan. I took a glace at the books, banyak yang interesting tapiiiiiiiiiiii yang penting harga dia dalam RM3 to RM10 [average] sahaja okkkkkkkkkkkkkk.

There were all sort types of books – children, travel, cookbook, self-help, fictions and otherslah.

Kalau diikutkan hati, I want to buy those pretty books there and then but the queue was fucking longgggggggggggggg. Berbelit-belit dah nak sampai ke hujung kedai. Kalau aku beratur gak, komfem I’ll be late.

So I decided to come back after the appointment.

3 hours later, there I was, selepas pergi dekat parking untuk tukar selipar hehe. Excited.

The only bad thing was, I did not bring my giant IKEA bag [ala yang biru harga RM1.90 tu] sebab surely my hands tak boleh menampung buku yang banyak. Lenguhla kalau nak kene beratur. There were people carrying boxes but that won’t work for me either. Tak nak pegang, nak sangkut.

Mengada tak? Hehe

b1The second time I arrived, orang dah berkurang and I was so relieved to see the queue dah jadi pendek but panic jugakla tah-tah buku yang aku suka tadi dah habis?

Tapi masih adaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

b2Knowing the price was freaking cheap, ramai orang memilih buku adalah seperti membeli sayur di pasar. Ambik jela banyak-banyak lepas tu masukkan dalam kotak/beg.

Although my mata kelabu tengok banyak buku, I only bought four. Salah satu sebab tak boleh nak pegang, lagi satu ke empat-empat buku adalah chic lits, aku nak cari buku lain. Tak nakla chic lits semua tak berkembang otak tapi malas nak round sebab perut dah lapar. Round sekali tak jumpa yang berkenan, dua kali pon sama, tiga kali dah malas.

But I have a feeling that I will be back hehe.

Books that I bought

Books that I bought

Dan semuanya berharga RM32. Terima Kasih.

If you want to get those cheap pretty book, you still can. The Big Bad Book sale  starts from 26 Nov to 2 Dec 09. Where? 3rd floor Amcorp Mall.

Go crazy!

Tapi buku pasal perempaun gila aku suka

in books,review

I seldom read books these days. Correction, I seldom read. Salah satu sebabnya I found myself tak boleh concentrate, I will have to reread one page for few times and that’s quite disappointing.

Yet I did try to read some books jugakla, mostly yang tak heavy – chic lits as people put it. Coz usually this type of books senang sikit, tak banyak benda nak kene ingat and absorb. Wahh tetibe macam baca buku kimiala pulak nak kene ingat semua  [I hate chemistry by the way].

When I was in Jakarta, I wanted to buy My Sister’s Keeper tapi aku rasa harga dia tak berbaloi [taik idung masin] but when I saw the book here tetibe tak jadi beli. Hmm maybe because of the rave kot. Ntahla aku pon tak sure.

I bought another book instead, The Lace Reader.

lacereader

Aku tak pernah dengar pun pasal buku ni but the first page caught my attention

My name is Towner White. No, that’s not exactly true. My real name is Sophya. Never believe me. I lie all the time

I am a crazy woman….The last part is true.

The crazy woman part got me.

I always love cerita pasal crazy woman, just story ye kalau bebetul aku tak sukala, menyemakkan otak aku je.

Mula-mula aku dah letak buku ni balik coz I saw “Eat Pray Love” tapi hmmm, I needed something less menonjol yang tak quote nama popular person like Julia Robert, so I went on and bayar.

Sikit punya panjangla intro. Heh

Okla finela, let’s talk about the book

The title speaks for it self, it’s about a girl who can tell the future  by reading lace. Weirdkan, camanala pulak nak baca lace. But fret not, in the beginning of each chapter she will put a note, more like a guidelah how to read lace -which I found interesting. Not the readingla tapi the style that she used.

Reading this book somehow telah menyemarakkan minat membaca aku yang kian pudar. I can’t help but wonder

a) What actually happened?

b) What will happen next?

c) Does she really have some special power?

It’s magic bercampur witchcraft bercampur psycho and lots of other elements.

And I love the way she describe each characters and surrounding. I can actually imagine macamana yang dia describe – the place, the people. Eh tapi mungkin jugak sebab imaginasi aku terlampau-lampau kan hehe

The story adalah diceritakan tidak mengikut urutan so you really have to watch for small details supaya tak lost, sebab cerita ni juga diceritakan from few people’s perspectives.

You might tak paham certain things in the beginning but that’s ok, keep reading because it will be divulged one by one, chapter by chapter

But

What shocked me, was the ending.

Twisted 1

Susah jugak aku nak suka buku yang bukan bimbo-ish ni but I love this piece.

In fact, I am going to reread it tonight :)

  1. Tapi aku sedikit sedih thinking kesiannya kalau ada orang macam ni, which I think memang ada
