After the dinner, we proceed to his friend’s house who will be celebrating the Hokkien New Year that midnight. For Hokkien their New Year fall on the 8th of the Chinese New Year.
The story/history went something like this. Long time ago the Hokkien were fighting with the Cantonese, during this period the Hokkien were hiding at the sugar cane field/plantation.The Hokkiens finally get tto free themselves on the 8th day of Chinese New Year, hence the celebration.
So what they did was, they thank Jade Emperor God by offering him with err.. offerings?
So anyway we went and when we get there, there are ready to start the ceremony [oh we also got ang pow hihi]
Majestic looking thing
Folding and arranging the 'gold'
That night were folded the paper and make it into ‘gold’ shape, ala yang macam bongkah emas tulah. They also used some special paper not just any paper.
Susun lagi
They are many different shapes but they all look like gold lah.
Folding with tired face
Sila abaikan muka and rambut tak siap, time aku dah mengantuk gile tapi nakkkkkkkkkkk jugakkkkk ikuttt.
Si apek
Semakin banyak
Sebab ramai orang tolong, so cepat sikit dia menimbun.
Daisuke yang sexcited macam aku
Daisuke, the Japanese guy yang also excited. Dia sukala benda-benda macam ni dan suka makan juga :D
Tinggi menggunung
It was kind of fun watching the papers yang dari tadi sikit boleh jadi menggunung in few minutes.
It's time to light the fire
The head of the family will light the fire to kick start the ceremony. This ceremony kiranya macam presenting the Jade Emperor with gold lah.
Bringing the daun tebu for burning
They also burned the daun tebu. Aku lupa pulak nak tanya kenapa.
Burn baby burn
Panas gila ok masa bakar ni. By this time I was thinking, is this legal? Butthen bedmate assured me that it’s ok since it’s related to their celebration. ok.
Si hidung kembang
Motif aku buat hidung kembang aku pon tatau. By this time, it was already past midnight dan adalah sangat mengantuk
Meminum air setelah penat -buat apa tatau hehe
Only ashes left
Bila semua dah habis dibakar. Tiff [the friend] said the ashes can be washed easily.
The supper begin
Roasted pork hehe. This is especially for Katik, nah katik kau nak tengokkan heheeee.

We didn’t stay for supper as I was getting so sleepy plus macamlah aku boleh makan food dia kan [minus the kuihla].
