Berkhidmat untuk negara

in deep thinking,personal opinion

It was raining heavily this morning hence the crawl near the roundabout. From behind, I could hear a siren. I thought it was an ambulance, tau-tau jela hujan kan, ramai je yang still nak bawak laju.

But I was mistaken, it was a police traffic, riding his bike in the middle of the heavy rain. He then stopped in front of the traffic, despite not wearing any raincoat.

“Wow, how noble he is. Dalam hujan pun kawal traffic. Such a nice trafic police,” I said.

Tapi not too long after that I heard more sirens form behind and saw the police traffic asking people to make way for somebody.

I assumed it was either the king or  mb or and menteri.

And I thought he was doing it for the sake of the people.

Sheesh.

So much for being noble.

Ituylah, lepas tu dan dan claim berjiwa rakyat. As if sebelum kau jadi menteri kau bukan rakyat, kau alien kan?

Actually, look at it from the perspective of the bigger picture.

Ministers/VIPs/MBs time is extremely valuable. Arguably more valuable than our time from the nation's point of view.

If the Deputy PM is stuck in traffic for 5 minutes, thats 5 minutes less that he has to say, attend to matters of national interest, 5 minutes less to be at his desk and respond to his duties, 5 minutes late to a function where another 1,000 people are waiting for him (meaning 5,000 minutes of lost productivity) to deliver a key-note speech that will improve the lives of the rakyat, 5 minutes less could mean that he doesn't have enough time to attend to a particular case that may or may not mean the difference between life and death for someone.

For us, 5 minutes late, means what? Nothing much most probably. Even if you're in labour expecting to deliver a baby, 5 minutes is just 5 minutes longer in the car and 5 minutes less to spend on a hospital bed.

Look at the big picture, people. While we all wish it was otherwise, this world is not about you and me.

So yes, the policeman was, in my book, doing something noble.

    • Umi

I'm called to respond to this.. :o

talking about looking at the bigger picture… it's a democratic and free country la.. ppl can write and moan however they like..

I could argue the opposite..5 minutes late for me is a huge matter when i'm late for that meeting that could determine my make or break in my career…if i lose that big project, x ke effect my periuk nasik nanti.. and maybe for the rest of my team too..

5 minutes late to deliver your baby is just 5 minutes longer? hamboi.. cube try preggie tgk..

5 minutes late for a VIP arguably could be less catastrophic.. if he's late ppl will wait anyway..kan kan..

bottom line is of course the policeman's doing is noble but to suggest the 'people' not 'looking at the bigger picture' is just insensitive and unnecessary…

5 minutes longer in labour do make difference. Second most painful pain after death, mampu ke tahan even 5 mins pun?

    • http://www.chicsinred.com/blog chics

This world is about me :)

And I am pissed of even if I am late for 5 mins even if noobody care especially when I already made the effort.

I guess our book is different then hehe
