Who still remember sate ria? I can still hear the jingle even aku cuma boleh ingat perkataan Amerika sahaja. To whoever yang don’t have a clue, sate ria used to a popular sate franchaise in early 80′s. Ke dia dah popular during late 70′s? I don’t know pasal tak lahir lagi –>Nak kata muda lagilah tu hehe.
Merepekkkkkkkkkk.
Anyway, not much I can remember about this franchaise except for the satay taste yang was not bad and they used to serve the satay in a tray with compartments alaaa yang macam dekat dining hall tu.
I was still small masa sate ni popular so can’t recall much. Still the nostalgia triggered when I drove pass bangunan Risda Shah Alam [ near Concorde Hotel] and saw Sate Ria outlet there. In fact it was the first outlet.
Sebelum that place used to be a deli or something, yang pasti aku tak teringin nak pergi. Yet bila nampak sate ria, adalah terasa melonjak-lonjak nak pergi. Nostalgia ok, aku dulu selalu makan dengan arwah datuk aku. Aku rindu dialah :( . Dia kan dulu selalu bawak naik basikal petang-petang lepas tu melepak minum kopi dengan kawan-kawan dia. And he will pour some for me in the saucer sebab tak nak bibir ku yang mungil[ha!] ini melecur.
Oh no. Enough about my atuk, sedihla pulak.
So on Saturday, despite baru lepas melantak laksa johor [sedap!] dekat rumah jaja, I decided to go to sate ria. Yela aku sorang je makan, orang lain tu tak makan lagi. Jadi alasannya adalah hendak menemankan.
The place was empty as we stepped in. Kesian ok?
When I browse the menu I was quite taken back melihat harganya yang a bit pricey compared to other kedai sate, tapi ye pulak kan yang lain tu tepi jalan je yang ni resturant. Ada yang mencapai RM3.00 secucuk. Must be hell of a satayla ni kan kalau harga dia macam ni. Besides satay, they also have mee rebus, soto, briyani and such yang nampak macammmm sedap. I didn’t try though coz I was quite full.
I wanted to try their sate perut, my all time fav tapi habisla pulakkkkkkkkkkk. So we went for the ria set instead.
Ok aku penat type. Nah tengok gambar. Sambil tu aku sexplainla. Okies?
The logo. Looks the same cuma aku rasa kaler dia lain. Ok actually I am not sure sebab masa kecik-kecik ingatan macam dialam barneys, if you know what I mean.
The set came with 2 sparkling juice. You can choose to go for either red or white. I chose red, aku feeling red wine hah. I have to say this was the best sprkling juice I ever tasted, the gas was not too strong and the taste was thick. Setapp!
The ria set. Siap with the condiments and of coursela kuah kan. The kuah was not bad although my company said he prefered kuah by haji samuri. Sambal haji samuri tu kot yang buat sedap.
But both of us agreed that the satay tasted wayyy better than haji samuri. They tasted good! Succulent dan juicy with real meat. I even like the chicken tanpa lemak. Usually I will only eat lemak part when it comes to satay ayam but for sate ria, it was all good without the lemak. Their satay are made from pure meat, no lemak if you are wondering.
For the ria set you will get 12 satays macam tula consist of chicken, mutton, beef and khofta. Tapi khofta dah habis so tukar dengan mutton. The price however adalah mahal untuk 12 batang sate, condiments dan 2 kuah. About RM 29.
Tapi satenya adalah gemuk dan besar. 1 stick is equivalent to 2 normal satays and it was good. So I guess it’s ok. Cuma to certain people that kind of price might be steep.
I hope to come again since I like the sate and I was quite intrigue nak cuba dia punya mee rebus, laksa johor and others. Cuma satula, tolongla jangan tutup.
When I left the premise, I was happy but sad. Happy coz I had nice satay but sad sebab tempat tu kosong dan tak mendapat sambutan. Perhaps it’s because it is still new.
Hopefully by the time I decided to come back, they will still be there.
